Welcome

I have been doing family history research since 1973, when I received some family documents from Mabel Heinson. A couple years later, I read Roots by Alex Haley, then found Gilbert Doane's Searching for Your Ancestors, and I was off and running. Three 'aunts' provided a wealth of information:

• my great aunt Mabel Miller (JONES) HEINSON (1889-1983) (more),
• my first cousin twice removed, Lena JOHNSON SCHLICHTEMEIER (1882-1956), (more), and
• another first cousin twice removed, Frances Ione (GREGG) DELAHOYDE (1905-1982) (more).

Later, I was helped by Frances Gregg's brother, Russell Boyd GREGG (1918-2009) (more), who graciously shared his time and his sister's research with me.

Each of these helpful people had gathered family histories and stories which have proven invaluable in getting started.
