- "went to Nebraska Wesleyan University graduating in 1940 with a degree in physics. He then went to work with Howard Hughes at Lockheed until 1944. While at Lockheed he helped make improvements on the P-38 and other aircraft. He then returned to Nebraska to care for his parents and worked at the Martin bomber plant in Bellevue. After the war he had assignments in Baltimore and New Orleans. He then returned to farming in Murray, Nebraska. He felt it was better to raise his children in Nebraska." [3]
